In this case, On October 3, 2021, eight people were killed after a vehicle belonging to and allegedly being driven by son of senior politician mowed down the protesting farmers, among others. There was incident of violence leading to multiple deaths and injuries involving son of senior politician/sitting Minister of the Union Government, which took place during public protests against Government action, in home region/State of such Minister/his son. But protests were being carried out by members of public hailing mainly from another State. Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to investigate the same as there is need to ensure that justice is seen to be done as well.

In January 2023, the Supreme Court granted interim bail for 8 weeks to the son of senior politician in the case, which has since been extended with the bench receiving progress reports of the trial from the concerned judge. He had earlier been barred from travelling to Uttar Pradesh and Delhi but the same was relaxed in 26 Sept 2023 order.
